Overview
Following a critical historical synopsis of the process of globalization, the course will focus on the multidimensional character of globalization reflected in the variety of intensifying flows and exchanges that are not limited to goods and capital but include, information, ideas, consumer habits as well as people. It will concentrate on how the many facets of globalization increase interdependency and impact domestic economic and political decision making and choices. The economic and political implications and consequences of trade and financial liberalization, migration flows, the diffusion and promotion of democracy, the effects on conflict and peace are themes that will be examined and discussed.
