Overview
Eurasia is probably one of the most discussed and debated concepts in geopolitics. It features as the epicenter of many geopolitical and power analyses. The countries that make up the region are key political entities in international politics while the region’s physical wealth and energy resources form the fertile ground for antagonism and cooperation between the world’s major powers. The course discusses the region’s economic and political developments from a historical perspective but concentrates on the post-bipolar era. It will seek to analyse the current dynamics of super powers politics in the region, e.g. China’s silk road strategy, the new geopolitical competition between Russia and the United States as well as between the EU and Russia in the context of the EU energy diversification policy.
