Overview
The scope of this course is to provide the students with the necessary theoretical background so that they can understand and interpret the interstate and ethnic conflicts and tensions around the world. Against this background, it analyses the role and the function of international institutions and regimes, of diplomacy and Conflict resolution as well as of basic terms of the discipline of the international relations and international law (State, Nation, State-Sovereignty, Territory, Exclusive Economic Zone, Continental Shelf, maritime boundaries, secession and partition etc). It also aims to provide material covering key concepts related to political and violent conflict among ethnic groups in contemporary states.
